Rogue and Chetco King Salmon Fishing Report Week of July 5-11, 2026

My co-captain Greg always says, “Never trust a salmon,” and this past week proved him absolutely right! Just as we started feeling dialed into the Rogue Bay after some great catches the week before, the fish decided to keep us on our toes and slowed way down. That didn’t stop dozens of guide boats packed to the gills with 6 anglers, posting pics of the 1 or 2 lucky anglers out of 6 who caught fish and saying the fishing is great on social medial.

We prefer a different approach. We are all about putting you on the fish, even if it means working a little harder.

After a slow start in the Rogue Bay with a wonderful family whose main goal was getting their 10-year-old on his very first salmon, we decided to bite the bullet. For day two of their charter, we made the call to hit the road at 4:00 AM and headed over to the Chetco River.

It paid off big time! Young Will caught his first-ever salmon and then went on to limit out with a second one. We kept that momentum going the next day for a couple who had barely fished before. Another 4:00 AM drive, and they walked away with three beautiful Chetco King salmon.

What’s Next?

It is still very early for the Rogue Bay salmon run, and while some fish are definitely moving through, it is still inconsistent. However, that is about to change.

We are seeing more salmon out in the ocean than we have encountered in a very long time. We expect the first major, significant schools of Chinook to make a strong showing in the Rogue Bay with the next set of big tides during the week of July 26th, and fishing should remain excellent right through September.

Let’s Get You on the Water!

August and September are our prime months and they book up incredibly fast. If you want to experience the thrill of hooking into a hard-fighting Oregon King, don’t wait until the run is in full swing.

Secure your dates on our calendar today while we still have openings, and let’s go catch some fish!
